Want to bring the Tenx9 experience to your workplace?

Ever since Tenx9 Nashville began, we’ve been collaborating with wonderful organizations. In 2014, we ran an event for the “Revisioning Justice in America”conference at Vanderbilt. In 2015, we made our first trip to North Carolina to partner with the Wild Goose Festival. In 2016, we told stories of “Strangers” with The Porch Writers’ Collective. In 2017, we ran Tenx9s in collaboration with Sister Cities Nashville, Meharry Medical College, Wild Goose, Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition, The Porch and Parnassus Books, and One Voice Nashville.

Collaboration FAQs

How do you choose collaborators? Is there anyone you’ve declined?

So far, we’ve only declined one request for collaboration, and that was simply due to impossible timing. We’ve been able to make all the others work. We primarily work with the organizations that reach out. Occasionally, though, we do initiate collaborations. Best way to find out if we’ll work with you is just to ask! Send us a note using the form at the bottom of the page.

How much time does it take to plan an event?

When collaborating, we prefer to make plans at least 2-3 months in advance. Plenty of time for promoting.

Do you use your regular monthly event for collaborations or is that always a solo Tenx9 event?

We have occasionally done collaborations for our monthly event (e.g. June 2017 with TIRRC, August 2017 with The Porch and Parnassus), but usually we pick another time of the month to join forces with partners. We will do our best to make it work on your timeline.

As someone wanting to collaborate with Tenx9, will this cost me anything?

Yes. As a matter of policy, we ask that organizations wanting to collaborate cover whatever expenses may be associated with the event, including a contract fee to Tenx9. We operate on a sliding scale, but the contract fee typically starts at $500, plus a 12.5% licensing fee. Depending on the nature of the collaboration, especially as to whether it’s local or requires travel, this fee may increase. We understand, though, that not every organization has a budget that can accommodate this, so we will do our best to be flexible. Don’t hesitate to reach out and ask anyway! And as far as event expenses, it is usually just the venue costs. If you have your own space that works, perfect! We love to have food and drink available (including alcohol whenever we can), which is why we usually host our events in cafes or pubs. If your space doesn’t have food or drink readily available, then we can have a conversation about how to make that happen.

Anything else I should know before reaching out?

Nope! The bottom line is that Tenx9 Nashville is about giving real people the chance to tell their real stories—for ordinary people to tell their ordinary stories. We are open to running as many Tenx9s as we can afford and as we have the energy and time to handle. So if you’ve got some stories that need telling, just get in touch using the form below and we’ll see what we can do!

So, what’s your collaboration idea…?
